Episode 155

August 29. 2020

Looking down into the valley basin; here, in the surprisingly remote heart of England.

Everything has changed. In the third part of this series, my investigation takes a turn. Indeed, I discover that the missing persons coverup is also at work here, in the United Kingdom.

In what follows, I explore the bizarre reality that our pattern of deaths and disappearances reaches into my own backyard. This is deadly serious, and in this episode, I walk you through several weeks of primary research, as I come to realise that these strange deaths and disappearances are being covered up in wilderness areas all around the globe – perhaps even by the same conspirators.

All I ask is that you listen closely to this episode, do your own research, and only then make up your minds.

As usual, you can download the episode or stream it below. An extended cut is available on Patreon, and the episode is available for playback on Spotify.

CASE NOTES

A few episodes ago, with encouragement from some of our members, I started running case notes alongside each episode. These include additional information, links to relevant articles, downloadable documents, interviews, my thoughts on the research process and a whole lot more. The Interactive Sightings Map

During my research for this episode, I was shocked to find out that inexplicably humanoid, hairy bipeds aren’t only seen in the USA, but all over the world. In his pivotal phone call, Nathan brought to my attention the work of researcher and archivist, Deborah Hatswell, whose interactive map, makes public the testimonies of witnesses, with a focus on the UK. The map is an incredible resource, and you can check it out here. You’ll find Nathan’s account on there, as well as the others he relayed; all from the region in which I had my own experience while recording content for this episode.

The Book of Enoch

While on the road, I made reference to The Book of Enoch. I’m particularly interested in the parts that mention fallen angels, spirits and abominations; myths that have been reimagined as monsters, haunting America and, perhaps, our own national parks. I’ve attached the full version here:

The specific extract to which I refer is as follows, lifted from page eighteen. Here, I’ve drawn attention the parts about a deluge, the Watchers and their banishment into the deep, dark wilds of the earth.

1. Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of
Lamech, and said to him:

2. '[Go to Noah] and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it.

3. And now instruct him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world.'

4. And again the Lord said to Raphael: 'Bind Azâzêl hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dûdâêl, and cast him therein.

5. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see light.

6. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons.

7. (missing)

8. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azâzêl: to him
ascribe all sin.'

9. And to Gabriel said the Lord: 'Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle: for length of days shall they not have.

10. And no request that they (i.e. their fathers) make of thee shall be granted unto their fathers on their behalf; for they hope to live an eternal life, and that each one of them will live five hundred years.'

11. And the Lord said unto Michael: 'Go, bind Semjâzâ and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness.

12. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever is consummated.

13. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: [and] to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined for ever. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all generations.

15. And destroy all the spirits of the reprobate and the children of the Watchers, because they have wronged mankind...

Note that these Watchers (or the fallen angels) are to be bound in “the valleys of the earth”. That’s a line that contemporary Christian mythology has taken, especially in Appalachian folklore, to refer to the spirits of the hollers, hills and deep, wild places. There, in that regional culture, these spirits and abominations have become one with Native American and First Nations legends about sasquatch, puckwudgies and the other lost tribes of humanoids; myths that predate the arrival of colonial superstition. It’s not unlike faery folklore – another element introduced by sixteenth century settlers – don’t you think?

You can read more about this Americanisation of the apocrypha in one of my sources: Backwoods Witchcraft: Conjure and Folklore From Appalachia, a fascinating book by Jake Richards. During my trawl through bigfoot culture, I also discovered this influential book by Gary Wayne, who has a large following – especially in the Southern USA. The Genesis 6 Conspiracy: How Secret Societies and the Descendants of Giants Plan to Enslave Humankind. And as ridiculous and sensational as the title sounds, you can see how books like this play on and even develop the cocktail of indigenous and biblical mythology that so many modern sasquatch enthusiasts have taken to heart.

My question echoes that raised by my informant, Nathan: what if there’s a grain of truth, buried somewhere in these stories? After all, as Deborah’s map demonstrates, people seem to be seeing the creatures described in those legends. So what might that grain of truth reveal, and why is it being covered up, perhaps even at the expense of innocent lives?

Primary Research

Though most of my primary research is represented by the audio I’ve compiled in this episode, I thought I’d upload some photographs I took along the way – if only to illustrate the relative wilderness of the UK, something that we often overlook, here in our densely populous cities.

The route up from where I parked, down by the reservoir in the trees.
Following the stream down into the valley. Looking back up.
Coming over the top.
The view as I descend into the valley basin, or cauldron.
Entering the woods near the quarry.
A view from the basin.
It was evening before I found these, the most impressive of the trees, located near the quarry.
