A MESSAGE FROM ADRIAN …
After the revelations of Episode 155 and everything that followed into 2021, we’ve decided to move away from all centralised social media platforms.
Unfortunately that means we also have to leave Patreon.
It’s been a good few years, but companies like Patreon are coming under increased pressure to deplatform creators who touch on certain topics. Of course, that pressure increased exponentially after the riots in DC, and while we don’t endorse those events ourselves, we respect our listeners’ rights to discuss these things on our forums. We’re all adults, and we can agree to disagree about politics. There’s one thing that this wonderful, erratic community tends to agree on though, and that’s our collective desire to live in a free world – something we believe to be under threat.
Sadly my team and I have seen several amazing shows defunded or even deleted over the last twelve months, because they discussed things that don’t fit the media narrative. So rather than tempt fate, we’re now in the process of divorcing those platforms that comply with draconian censors and the authoritarian lobbies they enable.
Like many podcasters in the space, I believe that this is the right thing to do. We have to stand up to bullies. And to do that, we have to come up with new ways of reaching our communities.
Those lines of communication have to be secure, and they have to be controlled by we, the creators and listeners. We’re the people who built this incredible community. It’s up to us to make sure it survives.
So, here’s what’s next for The Strangeness…
We’re in the process of transferring all existing Patrons to a new grassroots platform, set up by some of our friends in the industry. You might have heard about this elsewhere, depending on who you listen to. Shout out to Tony over at The Confessionals.
If you’re an existing Patron, we’ll email you with login details when the new platform is ready. No payments will be taken in the meantime.
Until then, new memberships are suspended, but if you’d like to sign up in advance, you are more than welcome to contact the show. I’ll get back to you when I can, I’ll let you know when we’re finished setting things up, and I’ll tell you how to access all our previous episodes in the meantime.
Thank you so much for your support.
Stay strange,
ADRIAN.
